Believe in yourself so others will

The truth is we can do anything we want. It's our own doubts and lack of self-confidence that hold us back. In creating and running a business, having confidence and self-esteem is essential. From raising start-up funds to leading a work force, you have to have the confidence in your vision and abilities or no one else will. And we all have that confidence! It's just a matter of finding it.

You'd be surprised how much courage you are already using in daily life and don't give yourself credit for. Just getting up in the morning and dealing with your day can take an enormous amount of courage. Look back at your day today and make a list of the things you did that took a lot of courage for you.

Then take it a step further. Dare yourself to do something you fear. It shouldn't have anything to do with work, but should be an activity that you would always regret you never tried. Ideally, you should do it in a week. Dare to get in the habit of being daring.

What are we so afraid of?

For many, standing up and being seen in a big fear. If that's the case, the next time you are in a situation where you can be seen, make it a point to prepare yourself as much as possible and push yourself forward. If you speak and act from the heart, your fear will melt away.

Confrontation is another big fear. And the longer you put off confrontation, the harder it is. Again, if you stay true to yourself and come from a place of grace rather than anger, a confrontation, no matter how uncomfortable, will almost always take a turn towards a positive resolution.

Build a support system surround yourself with people who believe in you. There is strength in numbers and it is often easier to face fears and build confidence with the love and support of others.
